By Tim Hodges from the Amex Press Briefing.
Gus Poyet told me this morning that he thinks the Albion and the national team would benefit a from a winter break but declined to answer if he thought a reduction in the number of teams in the Championship might benefit the Albion further.
Gus suggested too many games were compacted into too little time , but acknowledged how important the tradition of the Boxing Day fixture was in the UK.
Gus said would like to go somewhere and find some sunshine for a while at this time of year as we won't get much in this country. He did however seem pleased with the home cup draw against Wrexham. The Albion boss also commented on this Saturdays opponents Middlesbrough saying how much he enjoys their style of football and how expects them to achieve a top six finish.
Poyet mentioned the prospects of signing Gonzalo Jara Reyes, suggesting he may be out of Albions league financially and how he was grateful to West Brom for still paying a proportion of the players wages.
Poyet did also hint that the Seagulls may try and get another Premier League player in on loan during the January window.
On trailist Danny Lafferty, Poyet said he had not seen him action yet but hoped he would be able to learn and adapt quickly.
We finished with Gus revealing he would be attendance for next weeks FA Youth Cup game against Aston Villa.Although he wouldnt be involving himself with the preparation or team talk, but he hoped the youngsters enjoyed the experience.
Cant see that happening my life time.

Sid.
