Gus Poyet said this morning that he was pleased the Albion were able to compete in the Championship but went on to say what an unpredictable league it was.
I had asked the Albion boss if he had expected to be in 7th place by December.
He went on to say that one game could move the team three steps forward or back.
Poyet mentioned how well Casper Ankergren had played in Tuesday night’s win at Derby and was pleased as he knew how important it was for the Danish keeper.
We learnt that although Marcos Painter and Inigo Calderon were out for the weekend players like Jara Reyes and Vicente Rodriguez were fit.
However, he did stress that today and tomorrow were important for them.
On Saturday’s opponents, Nottingham Forest, the Albion boss expressed surprise that they were in the position they were in. He said that they had the players to get themselves out of their current situation.
Poyet also commented on Adam El Abd’s return to the team, even saying that the defender had made a couple of overlapping runs that he hadn’t expected to see.
Before the end Poyet showed what a hughly personable guy he is by inviting questions from a group of media students who had gathered at the back of the broadcast room.
One asked if Poyet had started thinking about what type of player he might sign in upcoming transfer window.
He wasn’t specific but said this was something that was being worked on and that he was after quality that didn’t necesarily mean technical ability.
Poyet revealed he didnt use either Facebook or Twitter but didn’t mind I’d if the players did so long a it wasnt detremental to the team.
