Gus Poyet said this morning that he is hopeful that Will Buckley will be fit to face Barnsley on Sunday.
We were also told that Kazenga LuaLua had been struggling to have an impact in the Championship and has not adapted to the transition from League 1 has much as hoped.
Poyet said the Newcastle loanee was finding it tough against Premier League quality defenders. In a slightly subdued press call the Albion boss dismissed any talk of Watford’s woeful defensive record and said that confidence and momentum were not words in his dictionary.
Suggesting the Albion would stick with concentrating on the basics, no mention was made of Lewis Dunk except that he trained well yesterday and that the Albion boss has not really spoken to him at length since Saturday.
When asked about Billy Paynter’s chances of a start tomorrow, Poyet would only say that “he gives us options”.
Afterwards Steve Harper told Brighton and Hove News how much he enjoyed the noise and atmosphere at the Amex but not the rain.
He also mentioned he was open to extend his loan and that Jonathan Woodgate had sang Albion’s praises, which persuaded him to come down to Brighton.
The big Geordie finished off saying he wanted to help the other three keepers as much as he could while he was here.
