Brighton’s beach volleyball centre could have covered courts for the winter.
The management of Yellowave, in Madeira Drive, Brighton, have applied to the council for permission to install a 9m tall inflatable roof over three of their six courts.
They hope the temporary structure will help their bid to persuade the GB team to use the venue as its training centre ahead of the London 2012 Olympics.
The centre currently makes financial losses over the winter months because it has no way of ensuring play can continue in high winds or bad weather.
The proposed white domed roof would be put in place each winter and taken down for spring.
Brighton and Hove City Council will decide whether to give the roof scheme planning permission in the next few weeks.
