A man threatened a teenager with a gun on Brighton seafront and tried to rob him.
The 6ft tall gunman went up to the 17-year-old boy in King’s Road, near the West Pier, on Sunday morning (28 August), pulled out a gun and demanded money.
The teenager refused and ran off.
Sussex Police said that a small handgun was recovered near by and are trying to establish whether it was the weapon used by the suspect.
The gunman was described as a chubby white man aged in his thirties who spoke with a local accent.
He was wearing a black zip-up hooded jumper, a black beanie hat and a white t-shirt underneath the jumper.
Detective Sergeant Mark Cullimore, from Brighton and Hove CID, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the offender walking in the area shortly before or after the incident.”
Anyone with information about the attempted armed robbery is asked to contact Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
