Sussex Police have appealed for information about a suspect with a large pointed nose following an attempted knifepoint robbery.
The man, described as white, slim, 5′ 8″ to 6″, with blue eyes and a skinny face, threatened staff in Mulberry Stores, in Whitehawk Way, in Whitehawk, Brighton, with a large knife at around 8.25pm yesterday.
He demanded cash, tobacco and lottery scratch cards but was chased away empty-handed by shop workers.
Police said he was seen running off in the direction of Fletching Close. Shop staff dialled 999 and officers were called to help but the man was not found.
The force has now asked for any witnesses or anyone with information to call them on 0845 6070999 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
The suspect was in his late 20s to early 30s, had messy short dark brown hair and wore a long dark coat, blue jeans and black trainers with silver stripes along the sides.
Detective Sergeant Steve Warner of Brighton and Hove CID said: “Although the staff were very brave in chasing the suspect out of the store, we would not recommend that members of the public confront armed offenders.”
