A court ordered a Brighton man to be held in prison to await trial on suspicion of carrying out a serious attack on a woman.
Christopher Adam Watson, 25, of Blackman Street, Brighton, appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 22 August) charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Watson was arrested in the early hours of yesterday (Sunday 21 August) after police were called to an address in Brighton.
They found a 28-year-old woman, who was known to Watson, with several facial injuries including cuts and puncture wounds that required surgery.
The victim was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
Watson has been remanded in custody and will appear before Lewes Crown Court on Friday 4 November.
