Commuters from Brighton, Hove and Portslade are being told to expect only a few rush-hour cancellations this afternoon and evening.
Southern Railway said that trains were now running on four of the five lines affected by the landslip in the South Croydon area yesterday.
Four trains have been cancelled. They are
- the 17.42 London Bridge to Littlehampton
- the 17.45 London Victoria to Brighton
- the 18.15 London Victoria to Brighton
- the 18.45 London Victoria to Brighton
Southern said: “We plan to run a full timetable tomorrow (Wednesday 3 August).”
First Capital Connect, which runs Thameslink services, said: “Fewer trains are able to run on all lines (and) may be subject to disruption on all routes at short notice.”
The company said that it would operate a half-hourly between Brighton and Bedford for the time being
The live upates page on First Capital Connect’s website showed considerable delays this afternoon.
Both train operators said that tickets were being accepted on a number of alternative services during the disruption.
