Both men whose bodies were brought ashore in Brighton last weekend have now been formally identified.
Sussex Police said that the man whose body was found just to the east of Brighton Marina was Shaun Pinkney, 32, from Hove.
His body was spotted in the sea shortly before 3.30pm last Saturday (18 June).
At the time Sussex Police said that the body appeared to have been in the water for some time.
The second man was John Donovan, 74, of Hampshire Court, Upper St James’s Street, Brighton.
Late last Saturday afternoon he appeared to get into difficulty while swimming and was brought ashore on the beach opposite Portland Place in Kemp Town.
Today, a police spokesman said that there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Pinkney.
An investigation is being carried out to see if anyone can explain why his body was in the sea, not least as an inquest will have to be held.
Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen Mr Pinkney in the two weeks before his body was found on 0845 6070999.
A week earlier there were reports of a man being pulled from the sea in the early hours by a passer-by.
When the rescuer called for help, the man appeared to go back into the sea and was not seen again although the lifeboat, coastguard and police carried out a three-hour search.
