A man has been arrested this afternoon on suspicion of sexually assaulting a Brighton woman as she walked home in the early hours of yesterday (Wednesday 22 June).
The 44-year-old man was arrested this afternoon after police received a tip-off.
The man remains in custody.
He is suspected of attacking a 26-year-old woman in Park Street, Brighton, shortly before 3am yesterday.
Detective Inspector Mick Jones, of Brighton CID, said: “Shortly before the attack on the woman, she passed a man walking westwards towards Edward Street near the junction with Upper Rock Gardens.
“Police would urge this man to make contact as he may be a witness and hold vital information that may assist this inquiry.”
