And they’re off! Hundreds of women have taken to the streets of Brighton for the annual Martlets Midnight Walk.
The rain held off although the wind was whipping up as the sight of groups of women in flashing bunny ears greeted onlookers along the 13-mile route through Brighton.
And for once it wasn’t a hen party in from out of town.
Hove businesswoman and mother of two Fi McNae was among those setting off from Brighton Racecourse at midnight – with a 6am breakfast in prospect back at the raceourse.
She said: “The world’s a better place because The Martlets is there, in the background, helping people who are at the end of their lives and looking after their families through tough times, and beyond.
“They are good people doing good work.”
She is raising money through a Just Giving page http://www.justgiving.com/fiona-mcnae/.
The Martlets Hospice, in Wayfield Avenue, Hove, is not funded by the taxpayer but relies on donations and fundraising events like the Midnight Walk.
