The RNLI Brighton lifeboat was called out early this morning after reports that someone was in the sea to the west of the Palace Pier, Brighton, and was in distress.
When the lifeboat crew reached the scene they found that the individual was no longer in the water.
And they established that paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service were taking care of the person.
Fortunately the sea was not rough and the wind was relatively light.
The lifeboat callout came just before 1am today and the crew spent 25 minutes at sea before returning to the lifeboat station at Brighton Marina.
