A Hove man, who is accused of slashing a woman’s face with a knife, is being held in prison while he awaits a trial.
Michael McGuinness, 42, of Cambridge Road, Hove, appeared before Brighton magistrates charged with attacking the woman with a knife in Grand Parade on Thursday night (9 June).
He is charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent, assault causing actual bodily harm and two counts of having an offensive weapon.
At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (11 June) he was remanded in custody to reappear at Lewes Crown Court on Friday 2 September.
Sussex Police said that the 32-year-old woman was treated for a knife wound to her face at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
