Two people have been arrested by Brighton and Hove divisional officers in the first ten days of an annual drink-drive policing crackdown.
Both suspects were aged over 25 and one of them was arrested after a crash.
They were among 60 arrests made across the county by Sussex Police.
The force has carried out more than 1,500 breath and blood tests although just four of those were administered by divisional officers in Brighton and Hove.
The two negative tests in the city were of people both aged under 25.
The crackdown is also targeting the growing number of drivers said to be driving while impaired having taken drugs.
Chief Inspector Di Roskilly, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “Since this summer’s campaign was launched on 1 June we have carried out a significant number of checks and have already seen a lot of arrests in relation to impaired driving.
“This is good news as it means we have removed these people who are a risk to themselves and other road users.
“However, despite all of the publicity and messages about the danger of drinking or taking drugs and driving, some people are selfishly still choosing to drink and drive, disregarding the risks to others.
“Our message to these few is very clear – Sussex Police is out there looking for you, supported by the public, and the odds are you will get caught.”
Members of the public are urged to contact Sussex Police if they know of someone drink-driving.
If it’s imminent they should call 999. Non-urgent reports can be made using the Operation Crackdown website www.operationcrackdown.org or by calling 0845 6070999.
