A man slashed a Brighton woman across the face with a knife last night leaving her with a deep cut to the cheek.
The 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene of the attack in Grand Parade, Brighton, on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
He and his 32-year-old victim were both taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where both were treated for facial injuries.
Detective Inspector John Wallace said: “The victim is being offered support following this vicious attack.
“A forensic examination of the scene is being completed and officers are speaking to witnesses and viewing CCTV.
“Anyone who has yet to come forward as a witness is asked to contact police immediately.”
