A 32-year-old suspect from Hove has been charged after another man was stabbed in Hangleton early yesterday.
Earl Martin, of Salisbury Road, Hove, has been charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm.
He is being held in custody and will appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday 23 May).
The victim, a 28-year-old local man, was found bleeding in the street in Harmsworth Crescent, Hangleton, shortly after 5.30am yesterday (Saturday 21 May).
He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for surgery.
Sussex Police said that he was in a critical condition with six stab wounds.
Officers arrested a man about half a mile way in West Way, Hangleton, shortly after the incident.
A knife believed to have been used in the attack was found near the scene by police officers searching the area.
Detective Inspector John Wallace said: “We are still seeking witnesses from Harmsworth Crescent and the surrounding areas including West Way, who may have seen or heard anything of the attack or anyone fleeing the scene.
“We believe the attack may have begun inside a flat in the Crescent.”
