Two men carried out an armed robbery at a bingo hall in Brighton last night and escaped with about £1,000 cash.
The pair went into Beacon Bingo in Moulsecoomb Way shortly after 7.30pm and threatened four members of staff.
One of the men is believed to have been carrying a knife.
Sussex Police said that the staff were badly shaken by the experience although not physically hurt.
No customers were present.
The robbers stole about £1,000 cash from the tills in the foyer.
They made off out of a side entrance and escaped in a car driven by a third man.
They drove along Moulsecoomb Way and turned right into Hodshrove Road.
The car was a new-style silver Ford Mondeo saloon which had been stolen in Worthing on the previous day (Saturday 14 May).
It was later found abandoned in nearby Southall Avenue.
The two robbers were wearing black clothes and their heads were covered.
They were both about 5ft 6in to 5ft 7in tall, of slim build and in their late twenties.
Detective Constable Tracey Dixon said: “We are asking anyone who saw these men entering or leaving Beacon Bingo to contact us via 0845 6070999.”
Witnesses can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
