Sussex secured a draw on the final day against Hampshire in their County Championship match at the Rose Bowl.
The result was never in doubt as 20-year old batsman Luke Wells recorded his second first-class century on day four.
The high-scoring match rarely threatened a winning result with both sides passing 400 in their first innings.
Sussex achieved maximum batting points for the first time this season as Ed Joyce and Chris Nash sharing an opening stand of 191 on day one.
But Hampshire made 480, with James Vince hitting 157, as the bowlers were unable to maintain the visitors’ advantage.
Spinner James Briggs took 4-99 on the final day as the hosts looked to force a result, but Wells guided Sussex to 254-6 when the sides shook hands yesterday (Saturday 7 May).
Sussex host defending champions Nottinghamshire at Hove on Tuesday (10 May).
