Two thieves snatched a cash bag from security staff delivering to a cash machine in Brighton.
Two men, wearing balaclavas, entered the Downs Filling Station in Ditchling Road, Brighton, at about 12.10pm yesterday (Thursday 21 April).
They grabbed a cash bag believed to contain about £50,000 from security staff.
The cash was intended to restock a cash machine at the filling station.
The two men then drove off in a stolen black VW Golf GTi.
The car was found by police at about 1pm abandoned at Moulsecoomb Railway Station.
A spokesman said: “The men had entered the filling station and gone around the counter to snatch a bag of cash being delivered by security staff.
“They did not threaten anyone and no weapons were seen.
“Police immediately made an extensive search for the VW Golf, which was found a short time later abandoned at Moulsecoomb railway station.”
