Firefighters have been called out to a fire at a chip shop on Brighton seafront today (Thursday, April 21).
The blaze started at around 3.30pm on the lower prom.
The A259 has been closed between the Sea Life Centre and Grand Hotel, while 10 fire crews deal with the fire and aftermath.
A large cloud of black smoke rose from the Beach Break shop in Kings Road Arches next to the Fortunes of War pub, and was pictured by a number of people who posted the images on Twitter.
I’ve spent many years and had great fun down on that part of brighton beach and I’ve worked at the beach break for a couple of summers. Its the maddest little chippy i know and probably the busiest one on the seafront. I’m sorry that this had to happen and that it wont be the same again and more importantly all the guys down there alive and well
We were just sitting on the beach when a small about of smoke appeared, we thought it was just a BBQ at first, then the smoke got darker and thicker and more of it started to spread, then many flames started to appear, every1 stood up and started screaming then the fire people arrived and thankfully every1 was okay!
