A Brighton man who was arrested on suspicion of murdering a missing father from Portslade has been given police bail until Wednesday 11 May.
The 48-year-old was arrested earlier this week when Sussex Police upgraded its search for Gary Hampson from a missing person to a murder investigation.
Mr Hampson, 42, vanished on Thursday 6 January after dropping his daughter home from primary school.
Detectives said that Mr Hampson, of Old Shoreham Road, Portslade, was a “devoted father” and that it was out of character for him not to stay in touch with his daughter.
Significant traces of Mr Hampson’s blood has been found at the garage where he worked – Kop Cars Body Shop, in Little Western Street, Brighton.
