Police have just released information about a series of burglaries in Hangleton, in the hope witnesses will come forward.
The burglaries took place overnight between Friday, February 25 and the following day in the area of Hangleton Valley Drive, Hangleton Way and Cowdens Close, Hove.
A wheelie bin was stolen and the subsequent burglaries have been for small items such as pictures, mobile phones, tobacco, briefcases and clothing.
A suspect was disturbed during one offence in Hangleton Way at approximately 11.25pm and was chased into a nearby road, Poplar Avenue, by the householder.
He has been described as a man of slim build and wearing a distinctive woolly hat belonging to the victim.
The hat was black with an “ALICE, ALICE, WHO THE **** IS ALICE” motif in red.
He was described as carrying something under his right arm.
DC Scott Moore, from the Brighton Priority Crime Unit, said: “We are asking for anyone with knowledge of these offences to come forward; no matter how minor the information may seem, it may be crucial to our investigation.
“These offences do not appear to be well planned or organised and are confined to a small area.
“Those responsible are likely to be local and witnesses may have seen something vital but dismissed it as anti-social behaviour at the time and therefore not reported it.
“Burglary is a priority crime for Sussex Police and as such any information received will be thoroughly investigated.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 and quote serial number 1757 of 25 February, or anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
