A 19-year-old man arrested yesterday (Thursday, February 24) on suspicion of rape has been released without charge.
The man was arrested in connection with the rape of a 17-year-old girl in Dyke Road park , Hove, on Tuesday, February 15.
Detective Inspector Trevor Bowles from Sussex Police major crime branch said: “The search for the person responsible for this attack continues.
“We have a dedicated team of officers working on the investigation and the victim continues to receive support from specially trained officers.
“I would like to appeal for anyone who used the Tesco Express 24 hour store on Dyke Road, at the junction with Upper Drive between midnight and 12.40am on Tuesday, February 15 to please come forward.
“You may have vital information to the enquiry.
“I would also like to remind women to please be vigilant when walking at night.
“Walk with company in well lit areas and be aware of your surroundings.
“Please call the police straight away if you are aware of anyone acting suspiciously.”
The suspect is described as in his 30’s, olive skinned, short dark hair of stocky build and has close shaven facial hair and side burns. He spoke with a European accent.
