A slip road from the A27 Brighton bypass was closed for half an hour after a car caught fire during the rush hour yesterday morning.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that the engine fire halted traffic on the eastbound slip road at Hollingbury at about 8.40am.
A fire crew from Preston Circus put out the blaze with a hose reel jet and used an environmental pack to soak up oil that had leaked from the vehicle.
The section of road was closed and a diversion put in place until about 9.15am by which time the incident had been dealt with.
