Proposals have been put forward for a £70,000 bicycle crossing in Preston Road, Brighton.
The plans, which include general safety improvements to the stretch of the road between Preston Circus and Preston Park, have been put forward by officials and Brighton and Hove City Council.
The scheme would involve installing improved road surfaces and pavements, creating the toucan crossing and removing street clutter, like unnecessary guard rails and bins. The council said it would not alter motor traffic flow.
Councillor Geoffrey Theobald, the cabinet member for environment, will be asked to decide whether the scheme should go ahead at a meeting at Hove Town Hall, in Norton Road, on Thursday, February 3.
How about a new cycle route.. From Lover’s Walk (Dyke Road Drive), Over the disused rail bridge the crosses New England Hill and from there into the New England Quarter and Brighton Station… None of it on roads and would cut the journey time to a few minutes.
