A thug robbed a woman in her home in Hove before stealing cash and making off.
He asked to see the 50-year-old’s meter then forced his way into her property in Brunswick Square.
He pushed her into her door, grabbed her by the hair and dragged her into the lounge before stealing money and then leaving, according to Sussex Police.
Detective Constable James Meanwell said: “Officers are providing support to the victim who has been left extremely shaken by the incident.
“It is unusual for callers to be violent, however, it is vital to use the door chain and check the ID.
“A genuine caller will be happy to wait.
“If anyone has received a visit from a suspicious caller or has any information that could help with this investigation they should contact us immediately.”
The suspect is described as a white man with brown eyes, 6ft tall, of medium build, aged 25 to 30 years old, wearing dark clothing and covering his face.
He attacked the woman at about 6.30pm a week ago on Tuesday (18 January).
Anyone who saw anyone suspicious in the area is asked to contact Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
