Police have identified the 28-year-old man who died in an accident in Grand Parade, Brighton, on Friday 21 January.
Nicholas Messenger, of Old Kent Road, London, died after a light blue BMW he was travelling in collided with a tree close to a newsagent while travelling south on the A23 at around 6.40am.
Mr Messenger’s partner, Liz, has released the following tribute: “Nicky was a wonderful man, a fantastic father and a brilliant friend and he will be sadly missed forever.”
Mr Messenger was one of four men in the vehicle.
The 40-year-old driver of the car has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink.
He has been bailed until Tuesday 5 April pending further enquiries.
