A Brighton man has been jailed for four years for growing cannabis and stealing electricity.
Giles Matthew Bristow, 39, of Stanford Avenue, Brighton, was jailed at Lewes Crown Court.
Sussex Police officers on patrol in Avis Road, Newhaven, became suspicious when they noticed the smell coming from a locked self-storage site at the bottom of the road.
They investigated and found Bristow behind the locked gates burning plants believed to be cannabis in January 2009.
The fire was put out and he was arrested.
A further search was carried out and a large quantity of cannabis plants were seized along with growing equipment from the storage containers at the back of the yard.
Bristow was jailed last week.
