Two Brighton men and four from Hove have been arrested after a night out marred by drink.
Sussex Police said that the first two arrests were made after a fight outside the Honey Club at 2.20am today.
A police spokesman said that the fight started inside the club and spilt on to the street after several people were asked to leave.
A man aged 19 and another aged 21, both from Brighton, are still in custody after being arrested on suspicion of affray.
About 20 minutes later a large group of men near by were behaving in a manner regarded by officers as drunk and disorderly.
They were ordered to leave the area but refused despite being given verbal warnings.
As a result, four of the men, all from Hove were arrested.
Three of them, two aged 20 and one aged 25, were arrested for being drunk and disorderly.
The fourth, also aged 20, was arrested for a public order offence.
One of the 20-year-olds has since been released without charge but the others remain in custody in Hollingbury.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “The full circumstances as to this morning’s events are still unclear at this time but inquiries are continuing.
“It’s clear, however, that alcohol played a significant factor in both the original incident and the subsequent disorder.
“Anyone who witnessed anything or has information about any of the incidents is asked to contact police on 0845 6070999.”
