A man charged with the manslaughter of popular Hove greengrocer Tony Magdi appeared in court today for a brief hearing.
Paul Lambeth, 35, of Stafford Road, Brighton, was originally charged with grievous bodily harm after Mr Magdi was assaulted outside his shop in Portland Road, Hove, on Sunday 7 November last year.
After spending three weeks in a coma, Mr Magdi died in hospital on Sunday 28 November.
Lambeth was subsequently charged with manslaughter.
His appearance today at Lewes Crown Court was for a preliminary hearing.
The court set a date for a plea and case management hearing which is due to take place on Friday 11 March.
