Three men have been arrested after assaulting three other men in the centre of Brighton.
The three victims were walking with friends when they were approached by another group.
A 32-year-old man and 28-year-old man, both of no fixed address, and a man from Hove were each hit on the head before the suspects ran off.
Detective Sergeant Steve French, of Sussex Police, said: “Thanks to quick reporting to police, officers were able to respond immediately and quickly arrested the suspects near by.
“Detectives are continuing with their investigation.”
The attack happened in the Pavilion Gardens, Brighton, at about 2am on Saturday (11 December).
Three men from Brighton, aged 18, 19 and 21, were arrested in Madeira Drive, Brighton, shortly afterwards on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH).
They have been released on bail until Friday 24 December pending further inquiries.
