Plans to put up a giant ferris wheel on Brighton seafront have moved a step closer.
Brighton and Hove City Council has granted consent as a landlord but the developer Paramount still has to apply for planning permission.
The company originally wanted to use a site next to the West Pier but has settled on Dalton’s Bastion, just east of the Palace Pier.
The council’s cabinet member for culture, David Smith, agreed that the land could be used in principal for up to five years.
But the council is keen that the attraction – known as the Brighton O – will not compete with the i360 which already has planning permission.
The ‘O’ will therefore have to close when the i360 tower opens next to the West Pier.
Which will come first the opening of the i360 or 5 year?
