Heavy snowfall overnight has made the majority of roads impassable today (Thursday 2 December).
Drivers are being asked to stay at home to give Brighton and Hove City Council workers the chance to clear major routes.
Gritters have been out overnight and every night this week in an effort to keep roads clear.
Sussex Police are urging people to stay at home.

Buses
Snow chains have been fitted on Brighton and Hove buses but routes are being blocked by cars abandoned when roads became impassable last night.
Limited services are running including the 1 and 46 between Portslade and the Old Steine, only.
The 49 is operating between The Avenue and the Old Steine.
There are no number 5 services running at the moment.
The snow is creating real havoc in Northern England, the roads are still very icy and many children have been hurt walking on the ice at my local school.
