Brighton’s medical school is putting on a lecture aimed at schoolchildren which it hopes they will never forget – it’s about our memory.
The Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is inviting 11 to 13-year-old pupils – those in Year 7 and 8 at school – to its Christmas lecture.
The lecture is a week on Friday (10 December) at 6pm in the Chowen lecture theatre in the BSMS building on the Sussex University campus at Falmer.
It is intended to take a fun-filled look at how memories are formed, why we forget things and how we can improve our memory.
The lecture – called A Christmas to Remember – will be led by a recent graduate of the medical school, Dr Ben McFadden.
He will be introduced by Professor Darrell Evans, associate dean of the medical school.
Professor Evans said: “After two very successful Christmas lectures, BSMS decided that it would be a nice idea to showcase the skills of our graduates and current students to the community.
“With that in mind we have asked Dr Ben McFadden, a BSMS graduate, and a number of our current students to design and deliver this year’s lecture.
“It should be great fun. I can’t wait!”
Admission is free and is by ticket only.
