A Brighton music venue has lost its fight to stay open in the face of noise complaints from neighbours.
The Freebutt in Phoenix Place, Brighton, has announced its two final shows, on December 1 and December 11.
Despite almost 5,000 people signing a petition supporting the venue, its owners were unable to resolve noise issues raised by neighbours with Brighton and Hove City Council.
In July, the council imposed a volume limiter which made amplified music performances there impossible, and the owners could not afford the estimated £20,000 cost of sound proofing the venue.
It can now open as a Pub and work to attract a local trade….
It will be converted into tiny flats like the pressure point was.
It is a shame, but I can’t remember any fundraising events over the summer..
