A woman netted nearly £5,000 after stealing the purse of a Brighton hospital worker and then emptying the victim’s bank account.
The thief went into the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Eastern Road, Brighton, and stole the purse from an office.
She used the debit and credit cards in the purse to withdraw money from cash machines in Brighton and Hove and to obtain foreign currency from a post office.
Later the same day the thief stole a purse from Worthing Hospital and pulled off the same trick again.
She used bank cards to withdraw a further £2,100.
Both thefts took place on Friday 15 October – at about 12.55pm in Brighton and between 2.30pm and 3pm in Worthing.
Police have issued CCTV images of the woman who is described as in her forties and wearing a purple jumper and a lanyard around her neck.
Anyone who recognises her or has any other information about the thefts is asked to call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999.
