A group of students who have been occupying a lecture hall in Brighton University’s Pavilion Parade building are now holding their own lectures there.
Although seminars and lectures continue to go on in other rooms, the group of 50 or so students have drawn up a series of alternative lectures on the cuts and protests for the hall they are in.
Guest speakers include union representatives, campaigners to keep Bright Start Nursery open, and the university’s own lecturers.
On their newly set-up blog, Brighton Resistance, they have posted the timetable for today. Members of the public are welcome to come along.
They add: “At this point we’d like to thank all of the staff at university for their various forms of support from tea, coffee and help with food, to those who are coming in to speak for us. We are immensely grateful to all of you.”
They are protesting about higher education spending cuts and proposed tuition fees increases.
