A popular Brighton boutique hotel, restaurant and cocktail bar appears to have closed.
Blanch House in Atlingworth Street in Kemp Town is believed to have closed in the past few weeks.
The five-storey hotel opened ten years ago and has won plaudits from several newspapers and magazines as it collected an array of awards.
It is owned by Amanda Blanch and her husband Chris Edwardes who also used to own the Hanbury Club in nearby St George’s Road by the corner of Paston Place.
They took over the Hanbury in 2006 but it changed hands a year ago and is now known as the Proud Brighton Ballroom,
Blanch House is a grade II listed building with 12 en-suite rooms.
A neighbour in Atlingworth Street said: “I think it’s closed as I haven’t seen anyone coming or going for a good couple of weeks.
“And magazines and other post seems to have been piling up for a while now.”
Speculation about the status of Blanch House was rife on Twitter yesterday.
