Pride will be held in Preston Park on Saturday 13 August next year.
Despite high level discussions as to the suitability of the park for the event – and the misgivings of neighbours – the post-parade party will be held there again.
However, the date has been moved to avoid a clash with the first home game at Brighton and Hove Albion’s new stadium in Falmer.
Organisers say they have been gathering feedback for the past two months in order to decide on what they describe as ”the most anticipated date in [Pride’s] history”.
Judith Manson, Pride manager said: “Unbeknown to Pride, Brighton and Hove Albion have previously requested an away match on the first weekend in August so they would not clash with the Pride celebrations, it is now our turn to return the favour.
“We look forward to celebrating the opening of the stadium with them and thank the management team at the Albion for their support.”
Martin Perry, CEO and Stadium Project Manager said: “The club has asked the Football League for an opening home fixture to kick off the first season at the Amex.
“We hope they will look favourably on our request – and it is a great gesture that Pride has kindly offered to move from their traditional first Saturday in August in order for us, with the league’s blessing, to kick off a new era for the Albion in style at our new home.”
A more detailed strategy for next year’s event, which aims to be both safe and affordable, will be made public in the coming weeks.
