Police and emergency services attended a serious crash involving a motorbike and a car on the A27, Westbound, at Hove just before 9am this morning.
The motorcyclist, 52, from Hassocks, was riding a black Honda when he hit the back of a grey Saab driven by a 41-year-old man from Telford, Shropshire.
The motorcyclist received serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the Saab was uninjured.
Two lanes were closed for over three hours while police and emergency services attended the scene.
There was a significant build up of traffic and police would like to thank the public for their patience.
