Firefighters have tackled two fires in Brighton and Hove in less than 18 hours.
The first fire destroyed a bedroom at St Patrick’s, the homeless hostel and nigh shelter in Cambridge Road, Hove.
A candle burning on top of a television is believed to have started the blaze shortly after 7pm yesterday.
The second fire posed more of a problem in the basement of one of Brighton’s new sustainable developments in the New England Quarter.
A wood chip burner in the basement of Pullman Haul in New England Street is being blamed for the fire which was reported at about 10.30am today.
It took two hours to bring under control with no serious damage recorded.
