About a hundred cyclists rode to the Lewes Bonfire celebrations in a “bike train”.
They returned home in smaller groups later in the evening.
Duncan Blinkhorn, who helped to organise the “bike train” said that the success of the bike train meant that the experiment may be repeated next year.
He also said that similar bike trains could be organised when Brighton and Hove Albion start playing at their new stadium at Falmer.
Mr Blinkhorn said: “Thanks to all those who came on Friday’s Bonfire Bike Train to Lewes helping make it so special.
“Thanks especially to the ride marshalls and others who helped with organising.
“It felt like a great success with about 100 of us joining in and a great buzz as we all descended on Lewes.
“The ride was a bit of pilot with a view to other possible rides next year from central Brighton to big events in Lewes, Stanmer or at the Falmer stadium.”
