A 22-year-old man from Brighton has appeared before magistrates accused of stabbing a man in the stomach.
Luke Matthew Batchelor, of Inwood Crescent, was charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm.
He is accused of attacking a 20-year-old man at a student party in Ditchling Road, Brighton, in the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday 31 October).
At Brighton Magistrates’ Court this morning Batchelor was remanded in custody.
He is due stand trial at Lewes Crown Court on Friday 14 January.
Sussex Police earlier said that the victim of the alleged attack suffered a punctured lung and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Eastern Road, Brighton, shortly after midnight yesterday.
His condition was described as serious but not life threatening. He has had stitches and is expected to stay in hospital for a further few days.
