A former Sussex Police officer is to appear before Brighton magistrates next month charged with fraud.
Sergeant Peter Yeats has been charged with fraud by false representation under the Fraud Act 2006.
The charge is said to relate to £3,500 of found property.
Sussex Police said that the 32-year-old former officer was arrested on Thursday 16 September on suspicion of fraud.
He resigned from the force on the same day, according to a statement.
At the time of his arrest he was serving as a neighbourhood response team sergeant in Hastings.
He is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday 1 November.
