A man in a wetsuit was arrested in a busy shopping street in the centre of Brighton this morning.
The 30-year-old was wandering down North Street when he was stopped by officers from Sussex Police.
The man, who comes from London, was carrying flippers, a harpoon and a small knife, police said.
He was arrested for being in possession of an offensive weapon.
The man told officers that he was on his way to the beach do some fishing.
He is currently five miles from the beach as he awaits interview in the cells at the Sussex Police custody suite in Hollingbury.
