A teenage boy was attacked as he tried to thwart a street robbery in Brighton on Saturday.
The Hove schoolboy, 16, was headbutted and punched to the floor in Bond Street in the North Laine area of Brighton.
He had stepped in when a youth tried to hold up his 15-year-old friend.
After the attack he was treated for concussion at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Eastern Road, Brighton.
Sussex Police would like to trace the three attackers – believed to be teenagers of Arabic or Mediterranean appearance.
One of the youths had a bicycle and another was described as having a big nose and bum fluff on his top lip.
The incident happened at about 6.30pm on Saturday.
Officers would also like to hear from a woman with blonde hair going white and thought to be about 50.
She threatened to call the police, prompting the three attackers to head off towards Gardner Street.
They were later seen near Brighton Station.
The three youths were described as
- Arabic looking, aged about 17, 5ft 9in tall, straight black hair about an inch long, with a big nose and a slight “bum fluff” moustache and wearing a dark grey hooded jumper and white trainers
- also Arabic looking but with a slightly paler complexion, with short, tightly coiled, curly black hair, aged about 16 and with an Arabic accent
- of similar appearance, about 5ft 7in tall, slim, with short very curly hair, and riding a bicycle
