A Hove councillor has rejoined the Conservatives after sitting as an independent for more than seven years.
Jayne Bennett, who represents Hove Park ward – formerly Standford ward – on Brighton and Hove City Council, will also stand in the council elections next May for the Tories.
Mary Mears, the Conservative leader of the council, said: “It is really great to welcome her back.”
Vanessa Brown will also stand again in Hove Park ward having been reselected for the Tories.
Councillor Brown is the council’s cabinet member for children and young people.
Councillor Mears added: “Both Jayne and Vanessa are outstanding ward councillors and together I’m sure will make an excellent team in Hove Park.”
