Martha Lane Fox is coming to Brighton next month to try to spur IT managers as part of her drive to help more people benefit from the internet.
The lastminute.com founder will give the closing speech to the Society of IT Managers conference at the Hilton Brighton Metropole.
As the UK digital champion she is aiming to encourage ten million people who have never used the internet to get online.
Her role also includes advising the Government on how to provide better and more efficient online services.
She also jointly founded the karaoke chain Lucky Voice, which opened in Brighton last year.
The public sector and charity IT managers attending the conference – from Sunday 10 October to Tuesday 12 October – will also hear from Brighton and Hove City Council chief executive John Barradell.
Mr Barradell spent 22 years in the private sector in marketing management roles in IT companies, including Unisys and Hewlett Packard, before moving into local government.
Many of those attending will be looking for ideas to help them run services more efficiently using technology as spending cuts will mean they have less money to work with.
