One of Brighton and Hove´s most dangerous junctions is to have new traffic signalling equipment.
Brighton and Hove City Council is to install the signals at the junction of Holland Road and Western Road in Hove.
Paul Elgood, the Liberal Democrat councillor for Brunswick and Adelaide, said on the Brunswick Blog: “We have longed campaigned for improvements to the junction, which is dangerous and causes traffic to back up along Western Road and Church Road.
“It is a busy route in all directions and can act as a bottleneck.
“As well as improving safety, we hope it will reduce congestion and the pollution which can occur along there.
“Anyone who walks or cycles along the main route between Hove and Brighton will use this crossing and so we see this work as vital.
“The work will take two weeks and we hope that the council will work to minimise disruption during this period.”
The work is due to be completed by the end of September.
