Brighton detectives have issued a fresh appeal for help tracing a brutal thug who left his victim partially paralysed.
They believe that they may know the identity of one of the two men who were present when the attack took place.
The assault happened near the Thistle hotel in King’s Road, Brighton, when the attacker stabbed a 23-year-old man in the neck with a broken bottle.
The victim, from Seaford, suffered nerve damage causing partial permanent paralysis of his left arm.
The attacker and his friend ran off, heading up Ship Street, before taking a taxi from outside Marks & Spencer in Western Road. The cab headed up Queen’s Road.
Detective Constable Stewart Cameron, of Sussex Police, said: “We are keen to talk to anybody who can either identify the men in the pictures or who has any information that could assist in helping with our renewed inquires.
“The men may have been breathing hard and sweating, and may have had blood on them when they got in the taxi.
“I am appealing for the taxi driver, or anyone with information about this vicious attack, to come forward.”
The attack happened shortly before 3am on Sunday 19 July last year after friends of the victim had been in an altercation with two men who ran off.
One of the men is believed to have picked up a bottle further down the street and returned to the group to attack the man who was with them.
The victim was given emergency treatment at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
Anyone with information is asked to call Brighton and Hove CID on 0845 6070999 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
